ADULT BIBLE STUDY THE GOSPEL OF ST. MARK All interested parishioners (and guests) are invited to participate in the upcoming session of our adult bible study program, waesthich will begin in September. St. Mark’s Gospel served as a pattern for the Gospels of both St. Matthew and St. Luke. This program will provide some historical background on (a) the nature of the Gospels, (b) what we know about St. Mark, and (c) what we know about the people for whom St. Mark’s Gospel was written. We’ll then go through the Gospel and several commentaries on the Gospel written by biblical scholars. The plan is to meet weekly in the evening, and should take approximately 10 meetings. We will employ a nationally known program “Little Rock Scripture Study”. The program presupposes some home study prior to each meeting. At each meeting the text and the commentaries will be reviewed and discussed, and any questions will be addressed. The group will most likely meet either in Conlisk Hall or the soon to be completed Mercy Hall. The day and time of the meetings is not yet set; that will be decided by a vote of the participants. Since the program requires the purchase of books it is important to know the number of participants. For this reason, all interested parishioners (and guests) high school age and above are invited to contact Deacon Timmel for further information about the program and to register. The books and other materials will cost approximately $25.00 for each participant. Deacon Bill Timmel may be contacted directly at dadatim@yahoo.com, or by telephone at (daytime) 203-270-8300 or (evenings) 203-426-3474.
